University Background
ADMINISTRATION
Course Coordinator
I was Course Coordinator of the Master of Counselling degree since its inception in 1999. This was a successful and highly sought after qualification for practitioners from education, nursing, ministry, community services, health, pastoral care, leadership and human resources who wished to specifically move into the counselling profession or to generally enhance their interpersonal relationships and communication skills. For a couple of years I coordinated the GradCertPastCare and BCouns, and was also assistant Head of School.
Clinical Practicum Supervisor
As the inaugural Clinical Practicum Supervisor I was responsible for the placement, administration, coordination, supervision and evaluation of hundreds of counselling students on clinical placment.
Students from various degrees (MCouns, BCouns, GradCertPastCare) completed supervised fieldwork in the community where they applied theory and research in the professional context. This practical experience was at the heart of what I see education to be, that is, students investigating the profession, their learning and themselves.
Since 1998, community centres, counselling agencies, hospitals, child and family services, education and youth facilities, corrective services and church organisations enthusiastically took students to complete a placement. Many times organisations employed students post-graduation based on a successful fieldwork experience. |
